Pandoraverse Month of Love Contest: Sister Love

So in Lopoddity 's Pandoraverse there's like a million ships. I had such a hard time trying to figure out which one I wanted to draw, so I trashed the shipping idea and moved on family love! The strongest of all loves (in my opinion). Recently I went through a really, really bad breakup and my sister was (and still is) there for me whenever I needed it. I would get really upset on Mondays especially since I see my ex at school so my sister decided that on Mondays I would go over to her apartment and just order pizza and watch The Office. My sister is the best and I decided to draw a picture of the daughters of the Princess of Love! Oh and I'm not the best writer, but I thought I'd give it a shot! The dialogue is loosely based off of a conversation between my sister and I.

It's quiet.

Too quiet.

The castle was relatively lively on a normal day, you could always hear the idle chatter of the staff ponies or the grunts from the guards training, but today was different. It was silent. Something was wrong and Flurry Heart knew it. The sounds of her hooves hitting the crystalline floors echoed off of the palace walls and it sent chills down her spine. This was just eerie. She thought maybe everypony just decided to spend today outside, or maybe they're preparing for the celebration tonight. It was Hearts and Hooves day after all, the entire empire is usually bursting with love and energy. As Flurry paced the long corridors of the castle, she finally heard a noise.

Sniffling?

Who could be crying on Hearts and Hooves day? That's just ridiculous! Hearts and Hooves day is all about being happy with the ones you love! Determined to find the source of the sniffling, she perked her ears up and began to search every room and every cranny. Flurry finally found where the crying was the loudest, and she was sure it was coming from behind this specific door, but... this was Skyla's room. Why was Skyla crying? Her hoof hesitated at the door wondering if she should knock, and before she could the door swung open.

"La-La! W-What are you doing here?" Flurry's wings ruffled up in surprise and attempted to play it cool like she totally wasn't just listening. 

"Um, this is my room. I should be asking what are you doing?" Skyla made a pitiful attempt to hide her face from her sister. 

"Well... IwaswalkingaroundlikeIusuallydoandthenIheardcryingsoIhearditfromyourdoorand-"

Skyla placed a hoof over Flurry's muzzle. "Okay, I get it." Skyla's face began to turn red and she looked down at the floor, her long mane covering her eyes. "How much did you hear?"

"Nothing really, I just heard a couple of sniffles." The alicorn looked down at her sister and noticed tear stains on her fur. She stepped forward and placed a hoof on her sister's shoulder. "Hey... are you alright?"

That did it. The flood gates were opened. Tears flowed down Skyla's face and she tried so hard to stop them. A few hiccups came out and she reached out for Flurry, something she hasn't done since they were fillies. Flurry Heart gladly accepted her sister's hug and began to rub circles on her back. It was awhile before either one of the princesses talked.

"Jin and I...." Skyla inhaled deeply. "He... he broke up with me."

"Oh La- Skyla, sweetheart... I'm so sorry." Flurry hugged her sister tighter. "What happened?"

Skyla wiped a tear from her eye and then more replaced it. "I don't know. Everything seemed fine... I don't know. I don't know what I did-"

"Skyla you did nothing wrong, okay? Nothing." Flurry took her sister by the shoulder and gave her a little shake. "You realize that right? You're wonderful, and if he can't see that it's his loss."

The small pink pegasus looked up at her sister with big teary eyes and shook her head. "But why doesn't he love me? What happened? How could he throw that away..." Flurry frowned and held Skyla tighter. The first heart break is never easy.

"He wasn't great anyway."

"What?"

"I said he wasn't great. I didn't like him."

"Flurry, you loved Jin-"

"No you heard me, I didn't like him. Ever." Flurry lifted her head up high and made a "hmf" noise. Skyla make a small smirk before it fell again. 

"I just have so many happy memories with him. It hurts to think I won't have more-"

"Okay Miss downer," Flurry nuzzled her nose against Skyla's cheek. "Just because things seem sad now, doesn't mean you'll never be happy again! You have to let yourself grieve the loss and then move on."

"But what if I can't-"

"You will. Besides, you have Mom, Dad, me, and the entire freaking Crystal Empire that loves you. I know it isn't the love you want right now, but it's the love you need." Skyla smiled and buried her face into Flurry's chest. More tears fell, but this time they weren't sad. 

"Thank you Flurry. I love you." Skyla wrapped her wings around her sister. Flurry squeezed Skyla tight until she couldn't breathe. A large grin broke out onto Flurry Heart's face.

"I love you too La-La. Happy Hearts and Hooves Day."
